The desktop app is the full experience — it's the only way to clean local files safely. The browser version needs no install and can still review folders and tidy Google Drive. Your files stay yours either way — see the privacy policy.

In your browser
- Nothing to install — works on any modern browser
- Scan folders and review the evidence (Chromium browsers)
- Clean Google Drive once connected — files go to Drive Trash
- Local files stay review-only; the desktop app handles those
Installing the desktop app
Run the installer
Open TidyScout_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe from your Downloads folder.
If SmartScreen appears
Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" for new independent apps. Click More info, then Run anyway. You can verify your download first by comparing its SHA-256 checksum with the one above (PowerShell: Get-FileHash).
Scan your first folder
Open TidyScout, click Scan a folder, and point it at Downloads. Review what it noticed — nothing moves until you say so.
System requirements
- Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) for the desktop app
- About 15 MB of disk space
- Optional: a Google account, if you want to clean Google Drive too
Heads-up on Google Drive: Drive cleanup currently runs in Google's "testing" mode, so it's limited to approved test accounts while the app awaits Google verification. Local cleanup works for everyone, no account needed.
